So how was it?
Generous with their strips of pork. Seldom do I come across hokkien mee that is served with so much meat. Lean meat, for that matter, that is neither hard nor dry, but tender. Weight watchers may rejoice

So how was it? Generous with their strips of pork. Seldom do I come across hokkien mee that is served with so much meat. Lean meat, for that matter, that is neither hard nor dry, but tender. Weight watchers may rejoice I may have mentioned this before, but I savour moments like this when I am so thankful that I am in KL and not in Terengganu anymore. The Alliance Francaise in Kuala Lumpur is currently holding the 2010 French Art and Film Festival (FAFF) and I attended one of the movies that they brought over. With a total of 8 films choose from, I was initially clueless on which movie to watch ( besides the much publicized Coco Avant Chanel). Being the nerd that I am, I naturally checked out the festival event page on Facebook and I found my answer through a film fanatic who mentioned in the page that Summer Hours (L’heure d’été) is the clear winner of them all. It seems as though I was not the only one who felt that way, judging from a rather good turn out that Sunday afternoon. After all, it has a string of accolades to go by, and not to mention good ratings everywhere across the internet. So what is this movie all about? !warning spoilers abound! » Continue reading Summer Hours at the French Art and Film Festival The f-word was the only apt word to describe the whole weekend. While food hunting was not the main agenda of my weekend, I somehow ended up trying out a bunch of new places throughout the weekend. . . . → Read more Thought I’d like to share my latest musical finds. For no real reason, I have been surfing up a lot of new music this month, and loving a lot of it. 1. JazzanovaHalf-eaten Claypot Lo Shi Fun. The universe is fair. Bang your car, discover good food. The other day, I took leave to bring my car for repairs after a minor accident. For lunch that day, I was brought to a restaurant in Kuchai Lama called Goon Wah. This place is popular for its Fish Head noodles, one indicator of its popularity being how every table in the 2-shoplot restaurant is either occupied or reserved (it was 12.30pm on a Tuesday!) » Continue reading Claypot Lo Shu Fun @ Goon Wah, Kuchai Lama Nicolas Cage in the Eyes of the Soulwax. » Continue reading 2manydjs in KL- A capsule review (really) Last week, my friend (fellow Yasmin Ahmad fan) and I went to watch Muallaf, the second Yasmin film that was released posthumously. Before sharing my thoughts on the movie itself, let me relate something rather amusing that happened at the cinema. I was in the tickets queue and when my turn came up, I asked for two tickets for Muallaf. The girl at the ticket counter looked at me surprised, as if I had just asked her to take her top off.
After being dealt with news of Yasmin Ahmad’s death, I was hoping that her contributions to the country were significant enough to warrant the re-screening of her works. The following weekend, there was a tribute shown on TV3 which featured the airing of “Mukhsin” (which sadly, I couldn’t catch due to being out on that night). Judging from how Malaysian media ‘loved’ her, I assumed that the tribute was all that the fans were going to get. » Continue reading Yasmin Ahmad’s ‘Talentime’ back on the silver screen! |
